Passionate about maximising potential in young people

Community

Community Work

Burton Youth for Christ has been involved within the many local communities of Burton on Trent since the very beginning. Our methods of working with young people have changed but our heart has remained the same. From using a bus to being in a community centre we want to provide good quality spaces and activities for young people.

Have a look at some of our ongoing community work or get in contact if you would like to see how we can work with you on a community event.

St Chad’s Youth Club

We are currently on our summer break and start back Thursday 21st September.

Mix Mania After School Club

For 7-11 year olds  (school years 3 – 6) every Thursday during term time 3.45pm – 5.00pm

This session begins with a short group time so that all children have connected with an adult. After this the session is full of free choice activities including: food making, crafts, sports, x-box, pool, table football, chill chapel, general play and games.

We aim to create a safe and fun space to encourage their development as whole people.

Thursday Crew Youth Club

For 11-18 year olds (school years 7-13) every Thursday during term time 5.15pm – 6.45pm

This group has a very relaxed atmosphere and activities are led by the young people who attend. They have included sport, arts and crafts, food making, table/card games, discussion, reflection, animation, x-box, pool and team games.

Want To Join?

Weekly subs are 50p per child/young person for both groups.

To join please contact sue.garb@burton-yfc.co.uk or turn up to one of the above clubs, please note that spaces are limited and you may be asked to be placed on a waiting list.

Partnership with St Chads

YFC have been working in partnership with St. Chad’s Church and Community Centre for several years.

During this time we have seen young people from the Eton area grow up through the children’s and youth work here, many of whom now stay on as young volunteers. We have positive relationships with parents and families and aim to be a supportive Christian presence benefiting the whole community.

Funding and volunteers

We currently receive no ongoing funding for our staffing time and so we are always looking for financial support. Horninglow and Eton Parish Council support some of the groups resources. Baron Davenport  have supported us with funds towards a residential trip, and young leader training and Asda have supported us for food activities. Newstart shops have given monies towards a sports worker costs for the new academic year. We are thankful for the Community Centre who generously let us use their building during term time.

More Info

We desperately need more volunteers. If you are interested in helping out at one or both clubs please contact Sue at sue.garb@burton-yfc.co.uk for more information.

Park Work

Each summer we head to local parks around Burton, taking sport, craft activities and refreshments for the young people to enjoy during their school holiday.
